Okay, so I’ve been saying that I would write a blog about the Rooney concert Monday.. So I guess that’s what I’m going to do now.. If my stupid internet doesn’t crash on me. Seems like it’s been doing that a lot lately Not really sure how I feel about this Windows Vista :O
Monday.. I had planned to get up around 8am to get ready. But since I didn’t fall asleep until about 4am, I kinda skipped that plan. I finally got up around 9.30am. Took a shower and got to work to open the store at 11am. At 12am AD came in to work. I needed to pack some stuff that I had to mail to some of the other stores – also I needed to put on some make-up LOL. So I think Britta got to the store around… maybe 1pm?? Anyway, we went to mail the packages – and then it was of to Hamburg. Just after the border to Germany we went shopping. We couldn’t very well go to Germany without buying cheap Pepsi and beers. haha.
After buying what we could have, we continued onwards to Hamburg. The car heavily loaded. haha.
When we got to Hamburg, we kinda couldn’t find our way around.. and Hamburg is full of one-way streets. It was a complete nightmare. After almost finding the place I said “I think we’ve driven to far” – and we try to figure out how to turn the far around when suddenly Britta yells “THERE’S THE BUS”.. and sure enough. On this small one-way street just to our right the tourbus is parked – JUST outside Grünspan where Rooney is playing. So we turn down that street and find a place to park further down the street.
We still have some time, so we eat the salads we bought to eat for dinner, and then we both need to change some of our clothes (I had worn another shirt, cause I know how clumsy I am – and sure enough I’d gotten the one I had on dirty lol). Around 6.50pm (the doors were suppose to open at 7pm) we got in line. There was only like 10-15 people in front of us (I honestly don’t get why people don’t show up earlier.. but that was a good thing that day). The doors opened around 7.10pm. We walk in and there was hardly any at the front row. So we just go up and stand in the front row inbetween where Matt and Robert would be standing. Weird place for me to stand, since I usually stand between Robert and Taylor (okay usually is only 2 times) – but Britta really wanted to stand near Matt ;) and since she isn’t really a Rooney fan (she’s more a Matt fan hahah) I had to let her decide. I want to be able to drag her along another time ;P
I thought that there wouldn’t be any opening bands… but when we look at the stage there’s a whole lot of gear there. So I quickly figure out that there’s some band opening. I was really annoyed about that, cause I’d read the post Ned posted on the website a couple of days earlier saying that no opening bands meant 20+ song set incl. b-sides and bonustracks, and I’d really been looking forward to that. Anyway, around 8pm these 4 girls take the stage and play some songs. That wouldn’t have been so bad – except that the sound SUCKED BIG TIME!!! We couldn’t hear what they were singing at all. From what we could hear, the last 2 songs was okay songs… just to bad we couldn’t hear what they were singing. The other songs were not our taste.
The change between sets went smoothly – and then we were just waiting for Rooney to go on.
After a while they finally got on stage (i’m sure it felt like longer than it really was).
They started out with Blueside as usual. Then proceed to play Don’t Come Around Again. Then CTW – I got an okay video of CTW. Britta was poking me, telling me that the security didn’t want people to film – but I managed to get all of CTW without getting caught. I somehow ended up JUST in front of Roberts mic instead of between him and Matt, but it wasn’t too bad. I just wish I’d been standing a bit more to the side.
I’d been hoping that they’d play Runaway. Runaway has been a favorite of mine for a very long time (I dunno.. for more than 10years), so finding out that they’d been covering it at a lot of shows made me really happy. Finally as the 8th song they played Runaway. I started to film it – but in the middle of Louies solo the stupid security guy came over and told me “no videos, only photos”. Ask me if I was pissed. Runaway was the only song I really wanted a video of – and this guys just tells me I can’t have it :( AND IN THE MIDDLE OF LOUIE’S SOLO!!! WTF.
Okay, so I stopped filming and just took pictures the rest of the time.

After the show I went to see what merch they’d brought. The other 2 times I saw them they didn’t bring anything. I did have some spending money, since I had some € from the last time I went to Hamburg (we have danish kr in Denmark) so I ended up buying the WDYHGM tote bag and the white hoodie.
Britta went outside and stole the poster that was hanging there. haha. That’s so her. I love that girl :) haha. She’d also managed to get the setlist that was in front of Matt.
Britta came over to me and then she saw Robert who’d just come out. We both got a picture with him. After a while Matt came out and we got a picture with him too. This girl really wanted to Taylor to come out, and Matt went to get him. Then we got a picture with Taylor – who was drinking wine. That’s just so Taylor (not that I know him lol). We got our jackets and went outside. Then we waited a little and all the guys came out to the bus (it was still parked JUST outside the venue) and we got another picture with Robert and a picture with Ned and Louie :) They’re such nice guys :D
Btw. I’m just on the phone with Britta now – and she said that I had to mention that Matt wasn’t wearing his sunglasses but regular glasses (when they came out to the bus) – and that he looked hot with his glasses (TOTALLY HOT she’s saying) ;)
After that we went to the car and started to drive home. We were really tired and it felt kinda like a long drive.. but we did it in just 2hrs and 45 minutes cause there wasn’t any traffic. We went into the last gasstation before the border, but for some reason it was shut down so we couldn’t put gas on car.. So we continued towards Denmark. We almost ran out of gas.. I was shit scared that we wouldn’t reach the gasstation.
I drove Britta home first and then I finally got home. I looked at my pictures and videos and then I went to bed :D
